The starting point is the same for these three stories: a lover of the Girondins who makes a tweet. Then the magic of social networks operates and everything accelerates. An open letter that ends in the locker room, a trip to Lebanon that ends with a meeting or even how to be appointed referee of a Girondins match
Jules and his open letter taken up by Grégory Coupet
Jules, aka ahhhhbc on twitter, is 19 years old and he is in love with navy and white. On April 18, hurt by the club’s poor results and worried about the future, he let his heart speak or more exactly write and published an open letter on twitter a few hours before the very important match against Saint-Etienne to raise awareness among the players. This letter goes viral when Grégory Coupet retweets it. The goalkeeper coach will even go so far as to photocopy it to display it in the Bordeaux locker room. For 20 minutes, Bordeaux led 2 to 0 against the greens, everyone believed that the letter had worked including Jules who regrets that it did not have more effect.
Gabriel in the Girondins de Bordeaux locker room
Whether Gabriel has never lived in Bordeaux, a large part of his family is from Gironde and there is no shortage of photos of him with the scapular jersey from an early age. Today a freelance journalist in Beirut, Lebanon, Gabriel remains passionate about football and the Girondins de Bordeaux, he contributes to the Caviar magazine, quarterly that puts football and society into perspective. At the end of March, beginning of April, he launched a challenge on tweeter: if I come from Beirut to see Bordeaux-Metz, does anyone have a place for me, he says in substance. Contacted by the club, he will finish the meeting, one of the too rare victories of the season, in the locker room and will leave with the jersey of Joshua Guilavogui
Joris at the whistle for the 140th anniversary match
To celebrate their 140th birthday, the Girondins de Bordeaux are announcing a legends match which will take place on Sunday October 17 against FC Nantes. Referee at regional level for the Hauts de France league, Joris Bourland aka Giron_dingue on twitter leaves a message a few weeks before the meeting on twitter for the attention of the Girondins de Bordeaux “if you are looking for a referee, I am available” he announces. Contacted by the Navy and White communication team, he will referee the second half of the match and find himself in the middle of Marouane Chamakh, Benoit Trémoulinas, Lilian Laslandes, Sylvain Wiltord and others. “On the last goal, there is a clear offside! This is my biggest refereeing mistake, but also the most beautiful“says Joris willingly.
