After two days of closure due to high bacteriological contamination, the beach at Parc Jean-Drapeau can now reopen. The last sampling showed that the bathing waters are now compliant.
This was announced on Friday by the Ministry of the Environment, the Fight against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks, in a press release.
Samples taken on Thursday showed that the waters of the beach now had an A rating, making them “compliant with bacteriological quality standards”, specifies the Ministry.
Samples taken on July 17, last Monday, had shown that the bathing waters were not compliant, forcing its closure on Wednesday.
Four beaches in the metropolis are part of the Environment-Beach Program of the Ministry of the Environment, that is to say that the bathing waters are regularly tested. In addition to the Parc Jean-Drapeau beach, there are two beaches in the Cap–Saint-Jacques nature park and the beach in the Bois-de-l’Île-Bizard nature park.
The bacteriological quality of bathing water, classified from excellent to polluted, can be found on the Ministry’s website.
