The Bank of Canada raises its key rate to 1.5%

The Bank of Canada raises its key rate by half a percentage point to 1.5%.

In April, the Bank of Canada also raised the rate by half a percentage point, its biggest increase in more than 20 years. On this occasion, the Governor of the Bank of Canada, Tiff Macklem, had warned that other increases would take place in the future, especially since inflation remained high in the country.
