The mayor of Vernet renewed the decree to the public prohibiting access to the village of Haut-Vernet, until July 31, the mayor of the town told franceinfo. Fearing the appearance of “malicious tourism”, and considering that the inhabitants needed “peace”, the mayor had prohibited access last Friday, for three days.

It was in this hamlet of 25 people that Émile disappeared on Saturday July 8th. He was then with his grandparents, with other members of his family. Nine days after his disappearance from the hamlet of Haut-Vernet, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, the boy remains untraceable. A preliminary investigation was opened on Monday to find the causes of the disappearance, after eight days of investigation in flagrante.

The judicial investigation is ongoing

New hearings took place this weekend and the search for evidence continues on the spot. At the same time, investigators from the Marseille research section as well as agents from the National Gendarmerie Criminal Research Institute (IRCGN) are analyzing all the data that has been recovered during the excavations of nearly a hundred hectares of land, as well as the telephone data of the people who were there at the time.

To this day, there is still no privileged lead as to the disappearance of Émile and the only tangible clue remains the testimony of two people who saw him for the last time in the village.
