the bad news that has just fallen for his morning “Hello”

It’s a very difficult start to the year for Bruce Toussaint. By choosing to leave the comfort offered to him by the morning show that he had overseen on BFMTV for several years to come and take on a brand new project on TF1, the journalist suspected that he was going to start from scratch… But he expected- does it have such complicated audience results? Monday January 8, 2024, however, the first hearings of Good morning were positive, and suggested that the morning news from TF1 would impact France 2, CNews and BFMTV: 512,000 viewers responded to the call, or 15.3% of the public and 16.8% of housewives. A very powerful score, which brutally made Thomas Sotto and Marie Portolano bow down… But this beautiful score was short-lived.

The next day, the audiences of Good morning collapsed, and more than 40% of the public present the day before fled. If the audiences rose slightly on Wednesday, they fell again on Thursday… And worse still, this Friday, January 12, 2024, to close the week, Bruce Toussaint and his columnists faced a new flight of viewers towards the competition. The show fell to its historic low, attracting only 235,000 viewersor 7.4% of the general public and 11% of housewives… A catastrophic score, which Bruce Toussaint will absolutely have to repair in the coming days.

Audiences are up significantly over one year

However, the results are not really gloomy for TF1. Indeed, for its first five issues, Good morning looked like 327,000 viewers, for 9.9% audience share over four years and over. Although this score may seem very bad, it is actually encouraging when we look more closely at the box average. Indeed, as our colleagues at Pure Mediain the first half of 2023, this time slot was devastated, and only brought together 130,000 viewers for 4% of the public. Audiences are therefore rising sharply, and all that remains is for Bruce Toussaint, Christophe Beaugrand, Karima Charni, Hélène Mannarino, Monique Younès, Ange Noiret and even Maud Descamps and Anaïs Grangerac to make them progress even further.

For the moment in any case, the hearings of Telematin were not destabilized. The first week of 2024 has captured the attention of 702,000 viewers, or 22.7% of the general public and 11.7% of housewives. The show is in slight decline if we compare these data to those recorded since the start of the season: in fact, since the end of August 2023, the Télématin teams have brought together a good average of 727,000 followers (26.2%) . The score is therefore down slightly, but this should be qualified with the sharp drop suffered by Telematin on January 8 when Bruce Toussaint arrived on TF1… before returning to its usual scores the next day.
