The Bad Guys snatch the lead at the North American box office





(Los Angeles) The Animated Movie The Bad Guys took the lead in the North American box office for its theatrical release, according to provisional figures published on Sunday by the specialized firm Exhibitor Relations.

Outlaw Animals Struggling to Become Nice, directed by Dreamworks Animations, grossed $24 million in its first weekend of release in Canada and the United States.

Second place on the podium went to Sonic the Hedgehog 2with $15.2 million raised.

In this sequel to the Adventures of the Blue Hedgehog, Jim Carrey reprises his role as the evil, mustachioed Doctor Robotnik, who wants – quite simply – to destroy humanity, unless Sonic stops him…

Falling from number one last week to number three: the latest installment in the Fantastic Beasts series, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

This new episode of the saga derived from the world of Harry Potter, centered on the fight of Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) against the evil Gellert Grindelwald, played by Mads Mikkelsen in replacement of Johnny Depp, has garnered 14 million dollars for its second week of operation.

In fourth place, the adventure film The Northmandirected by Robert Eggers, grossed $12 million for its release.

This feature film, in which play Alexander Skarsgard and Nicole Kidman, chronicles the quest of a Nordic prince to avenge the death of his father.

To complete the top 5, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talentstarring Nicolas Cage, earned some $7.2 million in its first week of operation.
