“We have confirmation of death and there should be an autopsy and an examination of the body in the coming days,” said Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

Around 4 p.m. Thursday, a call was made to emergency services by a 38-year-old woman who had just given birth, in a vehicle on rue des Ardennes in La Prairie.

The circumstances of this event remain unclear for the moment since the mother could not be met by the investigators.

“She will be in the next few days, when her condition allows it,” said the publicist.

At first glance, the woman was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol since no test would have been requested by the investigators in this sense.

In the meantime, an inquest has been opened to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the death, as is the case with any sudden death of a child.

No charges have yet been filed against the woman.
