The awarding of the 100% organic ECOCERT label to colleges

At the start of the 2019 school year, the Pierre Fanlac college in Belvès was the first college in France to be certified 100% organic, joined by the Jean Rostand college in Montpon-Ménestérol, which also obtained the Ecocert label for 100% organic cuisine in October 2020. In May 2021, a decisive step was taken with the Alcide Dusolier school complex in Nontron which, by obtaining the Ecocert label, has become the first school city (college + high school) in France in 100% organic cuisine. On the strength of the experiences initiated and successful in 3 colleges in the Dordogne for 100% organic, local and “homemade” food, the Dordogne Departmental Council wanted to engage other colleges in this process. During the 2021-2022 school year, 3 new colleges obtained their 100% organic Ecocert label :

  • Jean Moulin in Coulounieix-Chamiers,
  • Leo Testut in Beaumontois-en-Perigord
  • Jean Ladignac in Saint-Cyprien (since September 1, 2022)

This now brings to 6 the number of colleges in the Dordogne having obtained this level of certification. The 100% local and homemade organic label issued by Ecocert was officially handed over to Jean Ladignac college of Saint-Cyprien by President Germinal Peiro Thursday, September 1, 2022.

By the end of 2022, the Michel de Montaigne, Clos Chassaing and Anne Frank colleges in Périgueux will also be labeled 100% organic, local and homemade thanks to the technical and financial support offered by the Department and the daily work carried out by the kitchen teams of these establishments. The 35 public colleges in the Dordogne under the responsibility of the Department in terms of school catering are all committed to the process of organic and local supply guaranteeing better food for our children and a source of remuneration for our producers. To date, 60% of public colleges in the Dordogne have the Ecocert label. The Department wishes that all its colleges be labeled Ecocert soon and obtain, in the long term, a level of labeling 100% organic, local and homemade.
