The American strike is gaining ground. The UAW automobile union announced Monday October 23 the extension of the strike, which has affected the sites of the three major American manufacturers since mid-September, to a major factory of the Franco-Italian-American group Stellantis which notably owns Chrysler, Jeep, Ram , Dodge and Peugeot in Michigan.

These are 6,800 additional employees who are therefore called to stop working in what the union describes as “largest and most lucrative factory” of Stellantis in the United States. This is the SHAP assembly plant, located in Sterling Heights. It produces one of the group’s best-selling vehicles, the Ram 1500 pickup.

This brings the total of strikers in the three groups to more than 40,000, out of the 146,000 registered at the UAW. This is the first time that the “Big Three”, the three historic American manufacturers, have been targeted at the same time.
