What power ! If we were expecting more slender builds, it was the overpowered Michael Matthews (BikeExchange-Jayco) who won at Mende aerodrome after the Jalabert climb, during the 14th stage of the Tour de France. Present in the good breakaway, he was in on the action in the final and resisted the comeback of another classics rider, Alberto Bettiol (EF Education-Easy Post).
With this success, Matthews offers the second victory to his formation, after that of Dylan Groenewegen during the third stage of this Grande Boucle. For his part, Thibaut Pinot did not have the legs to follow the best in the last climb but finished strong and crossed the line in third position.
