“The attached letters”, David Goudreault

Letters by David Goudreault, read, performed and embodied for three seasons on the show Good evening !, aroused passions. Viewed millions of times online, these letters constitute a corpus of fifteen texts, now collected – and, incidentally, made permanent – in a short collection, The letters attached, where they are embellished with brief comments by the author and illustrations by Irina Pusztai. Chronicles of hot topics, outbursts of love for the forgotten and neglected, or inspired flights to embody the future of the world, these volleys of words systematically take the path of empathy. With the crackling rhythm of their images — some more vibrant than others — these letters offer a mirror of today’s Quebec, with its faults, its hopes and its struggles. While expressing an assertive word, David Goudreault claims love, listening, kindness and, in doing so, invites us to a reconciled future.
