The Association of Mayors of France (AMF) will not participate in the meeting on sponsorships wanted by the Prime Minister, tomorrow at Matignon, indicated its vice-president, the socialist André Laignel, Wednesday, February 23 at franceinfo. The Association of Regions of France and the Association of Departments of France will not take part either.

“The Prime Minister’s approach is surprising”explained to franceinfo André Laignel, the vice-president of the Association of mayors of France, also mayor of Issoudun (Indre). “The majority could have changed the sponsorship rules”he added. “It looks more like a communication maneuver than a real approach”estimated this support from the socialist presidential candidate, Anne Hidalgo, to whom he gave his sponsorship.

“Several candidates credited with significant voting intentions are clearly struggling to meet this condition and I think that no one and certainly not democracy can be satisfied with this, regardless of the candidates concerned”observed Jean Castex, during questions to the government on Tuesday, where he announced the holding of this meeting.
