Two years after the Lubrizol disaster in Rouen (Seine-Maritime), the association of disaster victims is launching a screening campaign to analyze the hair of children who live in the Rouen conurbation, reports France Bleu Normandie on Tuesday February 8. The aim is to determine the pollutants to which local residents have been exposed since the Lubrizol fire.
This hair sampling campaign will take place on March 26, indicates France Bleu. It will be carried out on 100 children aged 5 to 15, because this age group is less contaminated by tobacco or alcohol, specifies France Bleu Normandie, which adds that studying children’s hair will also allow follow-up on the long term.
The study, conducted with the ToxSeek laboratory, will cost 29,000 euros. The city of Rouen has already granted a grant of 8,500 euros. The association now hopes for help from the metropolis, the department and the region.
