The funeral of Jane Birkin, who died on July 16 at her Parisian home, will take place on Monday July 24 at 10 a.m. at the Saint-Roch Church in Paris. “Due to the small size of the building”access to the ceremony “will be reserved for his family and friends”, indicates a text published on the Instagram account of the missing artist. Jane Birkin’s relatives had already indicated a few days ago that the ceremony would take place in private. However, fans will still be able to pay their last respects to him because the ceremony “will be broadcast live on a giant screen at the corner of rue Saint-Honoré and rue des Pyramides”.
Rue de Verneuil, place of pilgrimage
Since the announcement of his disappearance, tributes from personalities and the public have multiplied, all generations combined. Many are those who, a few hours after the announcement of his death, went to rue de Verneuil, in front of the old house that Jane Birkin shared with Serge Gainsbourg. On the walls you can read “Jane, we love you”or “Charlotte, Lou, with you in pain”for his two daughters. Flowers and messages have been piling up in front of the house for a few days. And many are his fans who hum his hits with nostalgia, in particular I love you…me neither.
