Customs officers seized, at the beginning of May, 95 kilos of cocaine in the port of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). But it’s often the little hands that are stopped. To make heads turn, the GIGN is implementing impressive technological means to surprise traffickers.

A car stuck at a crossroads and suddenly an explosion. A technique used by the GIGN to challenge the driver of a go fast, cars carrying drugs. The idea is to surprise without being detected, and the operations are repeated with techniques worthy of espionage. This policeman scans a stone to be able to reproduce a perfect copy to hide a camera. The trap should be perfect. Techniques which are inspired of the seventh art. Once the artificial stone filed instead of the real rock, the inspectors will be able to go back discreetly to the team of traffickers.

The GIGN wants to reproduce any everyday object

The small hands of the GIGN, just as important as the big arms, have a know-how a priori very far removed from the missions of the gendarmerie. For spinning, a camera will be installed in a jacket, you have to access the lining, and undo the seams point by point. The resources can monitor surveillance operations as closely as possible, there is a workshop vehicle. An art of trompe l’oeil that can seem limitless. To bring down traffickers, the GIGN aims to be able to reproduce any everyday object.
