Each year around Changji Hui Lake, in the autonomous prefecture of Xinjiang (China), the arrival of spring creates an incomparable hydrological phenomenon. Melted mountain ice and lake water mix to form giant hearts, turning from navy blue to white.

As far as the eye can see, arms of water seeming frozen are located in the middle of the mountainous rocks. Another Chinese region, further east, the city of Qidong, in the province of Jiangsu, also offers spectacular landscapes. On the lake, impressive tidal creeks have formed this year. Formed in the lowlands, they draw giant trees with innumerable branches and constitute a magnificent phenomenon of totally natural protection of biodiversity.
