the army announces the discovery of a mass grave that France attributes to Russian mercenaries

The French army claimed to have filmed Russian mercenaries burying bodies near the Gossi base. According to the staff, this maneuver is intended to accuse the French, in full withdrawal from the country, of having left a mass grave behind them.

The announcement comes hours after the French military accused Russian mercenaries of staging a mass grave near the Gossi base in northern Malifor “to discredit” France. Lhe Malian army announced on Saturday April 23 that it had discovered “remains in a state of advanced putrefaction” near this base, which the French army returned to it four days ago, and opened an investigation “with a view to establishing all the light on the said mass grave”.

In a video taken by drone to which AFP had access, and which the French general staff describes as“informational attack”, soldiers can be seen busying themselves around corpses which they cover with sand. In another sequence, we see two of these soldiers filming the half-buried bodies. The French general staff affirms that these “exactions testify to the modes of action implemented by Wagner’s mercenaries, who have been observed in the Central African Republic since [son] deployment and which have been denounced by numerous international organizations and NGOs”.

The video of the mercenaries burying the bodies was taken a few days after the departure of the French soldiers from this camp, a departure carried out within the framework of the French disengagement from Mali, announced in February. The keys to this hold, which housed 300 French soldiers, were handed over to the Malian armed forces (FAMa) on Tuesday.
