If you don’t speak Occitan, don’t worry, the clip is subtitled. The Ardéchois released this Friday “L’Ardecha”, their new title, completely in Occitan, whose clip was shot in the Cercle de Paras chapel in Annonay and in a field in Vernosc-lès-Annonay. The collective of singers wanted to give pride of place to a department anthem, almost a year after their success on Youtube with their cover of “Ville et campagne”.
The question arose. But finally the ten artists decided not to translate this title into French. “It’s the tune of the song Se Canta, the official Occitan anthem. And we thought it didn’t make sense to do a French version”, explains Émilien Buffa who represents the collective. After two months of workthe song was published on the internet on Friday. “We had a thousand views in just over an hour”he says.
Success always seems to be there for the Ardéchois. Their first title combines nearly 800,000 views and still attracts nearly 1,500 Internet users every day. Their second title, “Santa Claus is Ardéchois” capitalizes 80,000 views. “We are very regularly asked to perform at parties but for the moment our organization does not allow it”, says Emilien Buffa. The group is organized little by little, difficult to bring together all the artists at the same time each time. The Ardéchois have another priority for the moment, they plan to go out an album at the end of the year and work on it.
