It is never good to make predictions, especially in politics. Anything can happen at any time, in a single day, capsizing on all sides in just a few minutes. But not being afraid of anything – even less of ridicule – we nevertheless launch ourselves with a perilous prediction. Attention, ladies and gentlemen, here it is: if the confusion in the National Assembly continues, the next poll will reveal to us that the government of the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) continues its free fall, with a drastic decline in public opinion since several months now. Who would have predicted it!
Indeed, the CAQ government, of which Quebec Prime Minister François Legault is the proud founding leader and representative, has still not understood anything. And unfortunately for the Quebec people, Mr. Legault did not do a real exercise of reflection or deep introspection, nor did he receive a “compass”, as was desired for Christmas, during the long holiday. celebrations.
Quite the contrary. Since his return to Parliament, and despite the fine words and good intentions at the start of the parliamentary term, the Prime Minister of Quebec, François Legault, has multiplied the blunders and improvisations, often appearing emotional, upset and angry. Mr. Legault also seems to have lost his political flair, his nationalist pride and much of his presence. And the question arises: has Mr. Legault lost his mojo ?
As unimaginable as it may seem, Quebec Prime Minister François Legault continues his bad streak in improvisations, spontaneous emotional declarations, sudden and senseless words, milk surges and gratuitous attacks, as well as vain stagings. , all sprinkled with arrogance, while his popularity crumbles in the sun like any glacier in the world.
His most recent production resembled a pseudo-show concocted at the last minute in kindergarten. Incredibly, Mr. Legault and his team decided that the Prime Minister of Quebec would appear before the journalists of Parliament (our Parliament) with fruit in his hands — yes, yes, real fruit — in order to clearly illustrate their “point”, to send a clear message to the Quebec population that “above all, we must not mix apples, oranges and bananas in the Northvolt file!” » It was beautiful. Anything beautiful, yes.
However, there are a lot of problems and crises to manage at the moment in Quebec — no need to name them, you know them. Files labeled “urgent” or “critical” are numerous and very anxiety-provoking for many Quebecers. But, despite the climate of uncertainty and anxiety that reigns among the Quebec population, despite the high level of stress and anxiety that many households in Quebec must manage, in these times, the Prime Minister from Quebec François Legault decided that it would be a good idea to present himself nonchalantly, and all smiles, with fresh fruit in his hands, thus offering an infantile staging, a semblance of a very pitiful “pestacle”, flanked by his laughing team and press officer.
And they looked really proud, boys, in the chic corridor of Parliament (our Parliament). Proud of their genius idea! They wanted to impress, and to impress, all those who dare to ask questions, argue, criticize, or question important decisions taken by our government, democratically elected, and involving billions of dollars of public funds. It’s a rather ordinary, even pathetic, leadership style coming from “our” Prime Minister.
And seeing this childish and insignificant spectacle of “apple, orange, banana”, which was part of the pure arrogance which too often accompanies power in general, we seriously wonder: but who, advises the Prime Minister of Quebec, François Legault?
Is there someone in his entourage capable of reasoning with him, managing him, supporting him, advising him, whispering politely, and very professionally, in his ear: “Uh, not sure it’s a good idea… with all respect, Mr Prime Minister. Many Quebecers could feel infantilized by this staging, perhaps even insulted, by seeing what looks like a bad sketch, you understand? And since we’re already down quite a bit in the polls, is presenting ourselves in front of journalists with real fruit really worth the effort… which is already melting in our hands? »
In short, for the humility promised, during the first election of the CAQ government in 2018, we must obviously forget that. It now remains to be seen how many banana peels François Legault himself will spread on his way to the next and distant elections. We’ll see, we’ll see…
