the appeal trial of the former Touraine suit tailor, extended for the third time

It was expected this Tuesday, October 4, 2022, after ten months and already two postponements: the judgment of the Orleans Court of Appeal regarding Guillaume Chartier. This tailor from Tours (Indre-et-Loire) was sentenced in 2020 for tax evasion, scam, bankruptcy, misuse of corporate assets, forgery and use of forgery, during his trial at first instance. With this third extension, Me Jérôme Goudard, his lawyer, raises the question of the“reasonable delay”.

If his client Guillaume Chartier had requested a dismissal of the appeal trial in December 2021 and that he had not appeared at the court in Orléans for “health reasons”, Me Jérôme Goudard considers the justifications of justice to explain this umpteenth postponement “very nebulous”. He recalls that the former tailor was heard by investigators for the first time in 2017, while in police custody, and that“he is still not judged after five years and without the opening of a judicial investigation”.

The taxman cheated out of a million

Guillaume Chartier is now 37 years old The judicial court of Tours accused him in 2020, in first instance, of creating companies, all liquidated later, to maintain his incredible standard of living, trips to Saint-Barth, Porsche Cayenne , villa in Arcachon

, etc., for ten years. It should today more than a million euros to the tax authorities.

The former “star tailor” now lives in Valletta, on the island of Malta. “His address is known” to justice, wants to remind his lawyer. As at the end of 2021, it is requested that the arrest warrant against Guillaume Chartier be lifted. The Tours court had sentenced him in 2020, at first instance, to three years in prison, including 18 months, a fine of 50,000 euros and a ban on commercial or liberal activity for 15 years.
