The National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office (Pnat) decided, Friday, February 25, to appeal the adjustment of the sentence with a semi-freedom regime for Alain Ferrandi, sentenced in 2003 to life imprisonment for the assassination in Corsica of the prefect Erignac and imprisoned in the Yvelines. “We are making a suspensive appeal” to the decision of court ofapplication of anti-terrorist sentences in Paris, which had given its agreement to the semi-freedom project presented by the detainee, announced the Pnat.

The arrangement requested provided that Alain Ferrandi worked during the day and slept in the prison of Borgo (Haute-Corse) in the evening. Without the recourse of the Pnat, it could have been effective from March 14.

“Fairness is not contagious. It’s a shame to shatter expectations”, reacted Françoise Davideau, Alain Ferrandi’s lawyer. His client “only aspires to return to his native land to find his family, his friends, without political commitment while keeping his convictions”, she said. The Court of Appeal will examine Pnat’s appeal within about two months, said the lawyer.

Sentenced to life imprisonment for the assassination of the prefect Claude Erignac in February 1998, Alain Ferrandi is imprisoned in the central house of Poissy (Yvelines). Like Pierre Alessandri, another member of the commando, he has been eligible for parole since May 2017. For several years, Alain Ferrandi and Pierre Alessandri have tirelessly challenged the rejection of their requests for rapprochement which they consider “discriminatory” and synonymous with “State revenge”. Requests for reconciliation in Corsica of Yvan Colonna (detained in Arles) have also all been refused.
