Sent to Vienne when the department was hit by fires, the animals of the Arcachon zoo (Gironde) are gradually returning home. Reportage.
Because of the fires which shook the Gironde, the animals of the zoo of the Arcachon basin had found refuge in particular in the Vienne, ten days ago, evacuated for their protection. Since this Tuesday, August 2, they have returned to “them”. The zoological park of Arcachon (Gironde) broadcast the images of the arrival of the first animals to make their return, on social networks.
14 animals had lost their lives during their transfer. The healers are therefore happy to find their animals. Felines, primates and birds are gradually reinvesting in the area. They find the 500 animals left behind. “It’s a great pleasure to see them come back and to see them well above all”, rejoices a healer. No victim is to be deplored in these repatriations. Upon their arrival, a medical examination was carried out, but this long journey should not have any consequences on their health.
