“The animal cause is surely the most forgotten”

This is the first time in France that the Animalist Party is launching a presidential election. The candidate is Hélène Thouy, co-founder of the Animalist Party and lawyer. The animal cause, Valentine, 22, is particularly sensitive to it. A law student, born in Paris, she co-founded the “Campus animal”, the youth movement of the Animalist Party.

As far back as she can remember, Valentine has always loved animals. “My grandparents had pets that were treated as individuals.“At the age of 17, Valentine decides”stop eating animals“and, at 18, to get involved in an association at first.

Valentine has also always been interested in politics. “I have found politics to be a good way to get things done for animals. What pushed me to get involved was when I realized that there was a real injustice that existed. The animal cause is surely the most forgotten cause“.

His close entourage understands his commitment but this is not the case for everyone: “Many people will say that there are other things to defend and that there are many things to do for human beings… But I answer that our destiny is linked to that of animals.“

Valentine’s main request would be to put an end to intensive and industrial breeding. The goal of his commitment is not to win the election but to impose the issue of animal welfare in the national debate. “Emmanuel Macron had promised to end the farming of chickens in cages by the end of 2021 and he did not do so. So I hope that the person elected in 2022 keeps his promises“.
