The angry Bikers of Gironde offer a site to report potholes on the roads

Fake plastic eggs and fake baby chicks : Pascal is a priori well equipped to spend the Easter holidays with the family. But this Sunday, it is on a road to Bègles that he spends a few hours. “With these accessories, we come to materialize a pothole on the road”, explains this member of the French Federation of angry bikers. We are near the road to Toulouse. So there is a lot of traffic. “It’s a very bumpy road with very present potholes due to the passage of cars, trucks and buses”confirm the bikers.

Dangerous potholes for everyone’s safety

The FFMC 33 is mobilizing to alert on the multiplication of these holes and these deformations on the road. A national operation was carried out this Easter weekend, with a playful accent but for a road safety issue. Because it’s a real nightmare for two-wheelers. “Bad surprises because of potholes, _it happened to all bikers. But it also concerns cyclists or scooter users_underlines Julien Gainza, of the federation of angry bikers of Gironde. “We are much more sensitive to deformations on the roadway both in terms of comfort but also control of the vehicle”confirms Pascal.

We have less stability, we will lose control of our machine and we will potentially have an accident

A website to locate all road damage

Each pothole is surrounded by a line of spray paint and identified by writing on the ground “Reported on niddepoule.fr”. This website allows you to locate and list all damage on a map of France. “The idea is to have a site to centralize user reports to send information to local authorities such as town halls”, says Julien Gainza. And the initiative seems to be bearing fruit. “It’s easier for the public authorities to intervene. Last year, we already came to this street and a few reported potholes were blocked”welcome the members of the Gironde section of the Federation of angry bikers.

It is painstaking work because the number of potholes is very high. Corinne lives in rue Albert Thomas where the bikers went this Sunday, in Bègles. “It’s the road that joins that of Toulouse so there is a lot of traffic. By force, with cars and trucks, there is a huge pothole in front of my parking lot”notes this local resident.
