There were smiles on Saturday on the synthetic field which adjoins that of the Source. Les Orléanaises easily beat Le Puy-en-Velay (3-0) for the first second division match. thanks to a double from Salma Zemzem and a goal from Coralie Monguillon. After the promotion of Farid Kebsi as technical director, it is Dominique Morabito who gives voice on the bench this season. The new coach is supported by Sarah Chalabi. It won’t be too much to lead the team to the top of the rankings because the season promises to be long and intense. Six teams will come down this season following the reform of the championship by the French Football Federation and the creation of a single pool next year.
“The girls had a lot of fun, they managed the highs and lows. The best score is 3-0 like the one against Le Puy”, welcomes Dominique Morabito. The work of the new coach was to reorganize the workforce, reduced by 30%. Management policy has been to launch young players from the club. “We have gone from 28 players to 18 players and two goalkeepers. We really want to show parents of young people in the lower categories that we have a breeding ground. These girls will play when they are ready”emphasizes Dominique Morabito.
For me, a club must have a showcase. If I look at Orléans, the showcase remains the professionals
No budget opposition
On the question of budgets, Dominique Morabito validates the decision of his management. “If I was asked to put the whole budget to allow professionals to play the promotion to Ligue 2, I would be the first to start”, launches the new strongman of the Orleans players. This season the women’s budget has been reduced. It is now less than 500,000 euros: “That doesn’t stop us from having ambitions. We have to give meaning to the work. You can’t ask the girls to be demanding and tell them that we’re just going to play the maintenance.”
US Orléans will take their first test next Sunday with a trip to Lille, one of the favorites for the promotion to the first division.
