The Ambassador Bridge is still blocked

Traffic remained blocked Wednesday morning towards Canada on the Ambassador Bridge between Windsor, in southern Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan.

On Monday, a demonstration against sanitary measures had blocked travel in both directions, but on Tuesday, traffic to Detroit was able to resume. Everything indicates that the demonstration was still continuing on Wednesday on the Canadian side of the border crossing located on the bridge.

Windsor police said on Tuesday that officers were on hand to maintain traffic points and public safety, and to enforce the law. In Michigan, the Department of Transportation has asked those wishing to travel to Canada to use the Port Huron border crossing, which connects this American city to Sarnia, Ontario.

On Tuesday, the president of the Detroit International Bridge Company, owner of the Ambassador Bridge, called on officials to take quick action to resolve the situation.

The Ambassador Bridge, which spans the Detroit River, is one of the busiest Canada-US border links.
