“Night temperatures from Thursday to Friday will remain very high, with minimums often between 22 and 26°c on the Côte d’Azur and Corsica”warns Météo-France. “The maximum temperatures will drop, announcing the end of the heatwave episode over a large part of the south-eastern departments”notes the forecaster.

Four departments on orange alert for forest fires

The south-east of France has been affected for several days by a heat wave which crosses the west of the Mediterranean basin, particularly affected by the effects of global warming linked to human activities.

The Essonne department will be on orange alert for forest fires on Friday, Météo France reported. It joins the three other departments in the south-east of France already on orange alert for this reason: Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and Vaucluse.
