“The temperatures will be between 34 and 36°C” in the Alpes-Maritimes. On the rest of the coast, the increase will be less marked”, warns the institute. “The maximum temperatures will drop, announcing the end of the heatwave episode over a large part of the south-eastern departments”, notes the forecaster. Regarding thunderstorms, twenty-one departments near the Pyrenees and in an Allier – Bas-Rhin – Haute-Savoie triangle are classified yellow.

Four departments on orange alert for forest fires

The south-east of France has been affected for several days by a heat wave which crosses the west of the Mediterranean basin, particularly affected by the effects of global warming linked to human activities.

The Essonne department will be on orange alert for forest fires on Friday, Météo France reported. It joins the three other departments in the south-east of France already on orange alert for this reason: Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and Vaucluse.
