The Alma smelter will have its long-awaited aluminum billet production center. The Executive Director of Atlantic Operations for Rio Tinto Aluminum, Sébastien Ross, was present in Alma this morning, along with Minister of the Economy Pierre Fitzgibbon and Regional Minister Andrée Laforest. Construction will begin in 2023 and commissioning is scheduled for 2025.

It was Patrice Bergeron, the director of the Alma plant, who had the privilege of making the official announcement, in front of several dignitaries and employees who were gathered at a press conference.
