The Alliance still defends its fortress brilliantly

The Verdun Auditorium may only have hosted three professional basketball games, but it already seems to be causing headaches for Canadian Elite Basketball League (CBLE) teams who visit it. The Montreal Alliance remained undefeated at home by beating the Guelph Nighthawks 94-74 on Sunday.

For the second time in a row, when the Quebec team won, it was co-captain Hernst Laroche who closed the debate from the free throw line.

Vincent Lavandier’s men were dominant on all counts, but won the fifth meeting of the season thanks in large part to their efficiency from the center of town. By making 15 of their 29 shots from the three-point line (51%), they outclassed their rivals, who had to settle for a low success rate of 28% in such circumstances.

Washington State native winger Dominic Green once again led the charge for the Alliance collecting 22 points and six rebounds. He was helped by an inspired performance from teammate Isiah Osborne, who hit the 20-point plateau for the first time this season.

Montrealer Kemy Osse also shone in the victory for his team by outrageously dominating the differential column (+34) and collecting five defensive rebounds.

The crowd favorites had to be wary of the dangerous Ahmed Hill. The former Charlotte Hornets organization, in the NBA, was more productive than anyone on the floor Sunday by amassing 25 points.

The Alliance have never doubted their chances of winning, winning each of the four quarters. She was leading by 12 points at halftime and never looked back.

The Montreal team will now head to Edmonton to face the Stingers, the two-time reigning LECB champions, on Wednesday.
