On December 16, 2020, Gérard Depardieu was indicted for “rapes” and “sexual assault”, as announced by Agence France-Presse (AFP) in February. The complainant, a young actress denounced several rapes and sexual assaults in August 2018 in the actor’s mansion in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. The case was dismissed a few months later before a new complaint was filed by the alleged victim and the case was referred to an investigating judge.
One year to the day after the star’s indictment, Charlotte Arnould has emerged from the silence on Twitter.
“I am the victim of Depardieu. It has been exactly a year since he was indicted. I can no longer be silent”, she wrote the young woman before sharing her long text. “Today, I need to live in the truth. I live hidden and in silence. It is no longer bearable. I need to express myself. I was raped by Gérard Depardieu in August 2018 . He has been indicted for a year.
She went on to say: “He works while I spend my time surviving. This life has eluded me for 3 years and I want to live without denying myself. This speech may be a huge shock in my life, I don’t. wins absolutely nothing except the hope of recovering my integrity. Maybe I should have waited. Go through a media. Do that ‘in order’. Do that ‘well’. But continue to be silent is to bury me alive “.
