The mother’s partner is the main suspect in Célya’s murder. He had abducted the little girl on the evening of Friday, July 12 after attacking her mother. Arrested early in the morning of Saturday, July 13, he is still being questioned under police custody.
It was in a wood less than 3 km from her home that Célya was found dead by the police. The 6-year-old girl had bruises all over her body and a major wound on the back of her head. The alleged murderer, her stepfather, had abducted her on the evening of Friday, July 12 after a domestic dispute.After a marital dispute, he allegedly attacked Célya violently, slamming her to the ground. The man allegedly took advantage of the fact that his partner alerted the emergency services to flee by car with the little girl. The kidnapping alert having been triggered, the manhunt mobilized 200 soldiers, negotiators and a helicopter that flew over the area. The alleged murderer was arrested shortly after 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 13. Célya’s mother is still hospitalized but her life is no longer in danger. The alleged murderer was taken into custody for attempted murder of a spouse, kidnapping and murder of a minor under 15.
