The man wanted for having masturbated in front of strangers in a park in Saint-Hubert was arrested barely four hours after his photo was broadcast in the media.
It was information received from the public that enabled the police to identify and pin the suspect, who is said to be in his thirties.
Longueuil police had asked the public for help on Tuesday morning to find the perpetrator of several indecent acts committed in recent weeks at Parc de la Cité, a large green space lined with trees located on the edge of the boulevard Davis, in the Saint-Hubert sector.
The police had accompanied their wanted notice with very clear images of the suspect taken from surveillance cameras.
According to the authorities, the individual would have “attempted to attract the attention of the victims” on numerous occasions so that they saw him masturbating or exhibiting his genitals.
The suspect was to be met by investigators during the day Tuesday. He could face criminal charges within the next few hours.
