“The alarm signal had been sounded for a very long time and organizations must cry out in anger so that the government does not respond but sends the GIGN and the Raid. They want answers to their questions but neither the stick nor the police”, denounced the Communist candidate. According to him, these people are demonstrating “so that Paris and the government take into account the specificities and realities experienced by the population of Martinique, Guadeloupe and Guyana”.
According to the Minister of the Interior, police officers were targeted by live ammunition and molotov cocktails in Guadeloupe. “I do not confuse those who have been demonstrating for weeks and those who commit abuses, loot shops and shoot against the police”, assured Fabien Roussel. “I condemn these acts of violence.”
However, according to him these claims put forward “the question of wages, high cost of living, pensions and social minima which do not increase”. Fabien Roussel believes that “state violence is also real and the population cannot stand it anymore. There is a total lack of consideration “ from the state. Protesters “asked to be heard on the basis of their demands with 32 proposals sent to the government”.
