OGC Nice defeated SCO d’Angers (2-1) on the lawn of the Raymond-Kopa stadium on Sunday October 31, on behalf of the 12th day of Ligue 1. Disciplined defensively, Angers has, in a first time, stood up to a dominating Nice team with the ball but often surprised in transition.
Hanging by Youcef Atal at the end of the Nice area, Sofiane Boufal caused a penalty, which he himself transformed (29th) to give the advantage to Angevins. Not very dangerous in the first period except for a header from Andy Delort who hit the post of the Angevin cage (22nd), Christophe Galtier’s men rectified the situation in the second act. The former Montpellierain equalized for his people on a superb lob leaving Paul Bernardoni (57th) spectator on the action.
Nice then pushed to the end to clinch a victory once again achieved thanks to the former Hérault striker on an unstoppable volley that came to crucify the porter of Angers (90th). Author of 45 goals since the 2018-19 season in Ligue 1 (only Kylian Mappé does better with 83 goals), Andy Delort has once again demonstrated all his talent and consistency. The 30-year-old striker, who now has seven goals in Ligue 1 this season, had already allowed his team to equalize against Lyon last Sunday by converting a penalty at the end of the match.
With this decisive double, Andy Delort allows Nice to become the new runner-up for PSG in place of Lensois, beaten on Saturday by Lyon. While waiting in particular for the trip from Monaco to Brest (Sunday at 5 p.m.), the Angevins are eighth in the standings.
