Anger of farmers: the aid promised by the executive has fallen behind schedule

Tuesday March 19, many farmers are still impatient, waiting for aid from the CAP (common agricultural policy), which the government had committed to paying them as quickly as possible.

The mobilization does not deflate. In Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), a mountain of tires is piled up in front of the gates of a Total Energies site. It has been impossible to enter for a week. Farmers are demanding a reduction in fuel tax, but also payment of aid from the CAP (common agricultural policy). “We hear about software problems, but there are problems in all companies, and they are resolved quickly. We don’t leave people without their salary for five months”deplores Olivier Ginestet, president of the Landes Rural Coordination.

Farmers still waiting for their payment

What is it really ? According to figures from the Ministry of Agriculture, out of 8.6 billion euros in planned aid, 7.6 billion have already been paid. As the government had promised, most of the aid was received before March 15, but, according to farmers, there are still holes in the racket. Mathieu Maronese, a cereal grower in Haute-Garonne, says he is waiting for a payment of 3,000 euros, or 10% of the amount of his CAP.
