The dissolution of the National Assembly puts on hold all the reform work carried out by Parliament and the government. What will happen to agricultural reforms after the winter blockages? Farmers are worried.

The agricultural orientation law was voted on by deputies on May 28, 2024. This administrative simplification text for farmers was to be examined by the Senate in the coming days. With the dissolution of the Assembly, the reform was suspended. “All the subjects that were on the table, we will talk about them again in the fall. Ultimately, this is a very big disappointment for the farmers”explains Julien Rouger, vice-president of Young Farmers.

The immense reform project since the winter farmers’ crisis has been brought to a halt. After July 7, the new majority may decide to resume legislative work. But Laurent Gaudin, a cereal grower based near Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle), no longer believes in it. “All the new elected officials who will fall following the somewhat rushed legislative elections will not listen to us, they have never listened to us, they will never listen to us”, he believes. The unions assure that they will make their demands heard by the candidates during the campaign.
