Wednesday, October 19, the soap opera of the JT of 13 Hours on the rally of the aeropostale continues. Following Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s trail, the airmen find themselves in the desert.
At the gates of the Sahara, the aeropostale rally, which embarks on the route of the aviator and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, begins an impressive stage. The rally pilots fly over Tarfaya (Morocco), a city located in the middle of the desert. Here there is no control tower or paved track, you have to land on the sand. For amateur pilot Pierre, it was one of the most complicated landings of his life.
The track has been opened for the rally drivers, but they are not the first to achieve this feat. In 1925, the pilots of the world’s first air mail line stopped at the same place before delivering their mail. They are warmly welcomed by the children of the Tarfaya school, to whom they show their planes. In their luggage, the airmen also brought back school supplies which they distribute to the children. Saint-Exupéry stayed more than 18 months in Tarfaya. In this setting in the middle of the desert, he was inspired to write The Little Prince.
