Elisabeth Borne said she was in favor of the reform of the allowance for disabled adults, which will be deconjugalized. It will thus offer more independence to the beneficiaries.

In Muret (Haute-Garonne), Dominique Krouch, 62, suffers from a degenerative neurological disease. She lives in a wheelchair and needs constant help. Unable to work, she receives a “disabled adult” allowance. The amount is however reduced, depending on the income of his spouse. At the request of the associations, the government announced the reform of this method of calculation.

“It will be an in-depth reform. We will start from the principle of deconjugalization”, declared Élisabeth Borne, the Prime Minister, on July 6. The allowance would be paid in full, regardless of the financial situation of the married couple. “Dominique can feel less dependent on me. (…) She can do what she wants with her money (…), then it’s rewarding, all the same, not to be dependent on someone”, believes Gérard Krouch. Independence is also a victory for Sophie Lombard, 38, who had so far decided not to marry, in order to take full advantage of the allowance.
