A few days after the publication of the book The gravediggersby journalist Victor Cassanet, and his revelations on the living conditions in the Ehpad of the Orpea group, the Minister Delegate in charge of Autonomy Brigitte Bourguignon announced, on February 1, the opening of an administrative investigation and a group financial investigation. “You have to hit hard to show that we are not doing just anything in this country, in an activity which is lucrative but which should not be to the detriment of good treatment, said the minister. Behind all that, it’s obviously an entire system that is denounced and that’s what I want to know and what I want to understand.”
The mission letter that franceinfo was able to obtain is addressed to the head of Igas and the head of the IGF. It lists eight points that the investigators of the two inspections are responsible for verifying, in particular “the group’s practices on the allocation to establishments of consumables such as sanitary protection, or on issues related to the nutrition of residents”, “the methods reporting and monitoring of acts of mistreatment”, or “the group’s financial management practices”.
“We hope, write the ministers who signed the letter, that the conclusions and recommendations of this mission will be the subject of a final report on March 14.”
The new CEO of the Orpea group affirmed, after an interview with Brigitte Bourguignon, to be “ready to cooperate as best as possible with the supervisory authorities”.
