Acura continues to trickle down information in preparation for the unveiling of the fifth generation of its compact Integra, scheduled for 2022.
The affordable icon whose star shone mainly during the 1990s will finally be entitled to a six-speed manual transmission. The latter will thus make a return to the range of Honda’s luxury brand to the delight of sports driving enthusiasts.
It is not yet clear what this transmission will be bolted to, but it would make sense for the automaker to go for a more powerful version of the engine for the upcoming Civic Type R, likely a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder.
We learned at the end of September that this Integra will have a five-door body with a “sportback” type tailgate to give it a slippery coupe line. Its arrival is eagerly awaited by admirers of Japanese cars, who have been waiting since 2006, when the RSX coupe was abandoned, for the return of a real descendant to the Integra.
