During his career, Sidney Poitier revolutionized American cinema. In 1964, he became the first black comedian to be awarded the Oscar for Best Actor for his role as Homer Smith in the Ralph Nelson feature film, The lily of the fields. A committed actor, he fought against racism for a long time. In 2009, he also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from the hands of Barack Obama. In addition, the star has also distinguished himself as a talented director. In the 1970s, the latter had made the decision to embark on new adventures and go behind the camera. At the age of 45, he signed his very first film.
