It has been two weeks since the site of the Hameau social center in Pau suffered a fire. It was following an ambush by young people to the police and firefighters. Everything has been closed since April 13. 600 families are members of the social center which has about twenty employees. The animations have been maintained but on other sites. Facilitators were welcomed at the Espace Prévert in Pau.

This fire, even the children have heard of it. Justine and Léa are 6 years old: “Cars burned“, “The roof burned down, when the firefighters at night arrived, people were throwing stones, and the firefighters came back with the police“. These two little girls have also understood that this event had consequences for the families from the Ousse des Bois district: “They came to this centre, the teenagers!”
Lots of entertainment for everyone
The Espace Prévert actually organizes lots of activities for the little ones, on the theme of planets, volcanoes; for teenagers too. Animations are also for adults: outings, gardening activities and even massage for parents. Everything that was planned has taken place confirms Emmanuel Godeau the director of Prévert leisure reception for 6-12 year olds.
“We pool with the agents of the social center and their public, explains Emmanuel Godeau. There is a lot of passage, everything is going very well. We all bounced back very well. We were able to keep all our activities, it’s a priority.” The Espace Prévert and the Maison du Citoyen in Pau will continue to offer structures for the Hameau social center.
