Finances not in top shape. For the year 2020, the Socialist Party posted a deficit of more than 3.7 million euros and the National Rally posted a net situation of -15 million euros, notes the Campaign Accounts Commission in its annual review. (PDF file) published Tuesday, February 15 in the Official Journal.
With nearly 18.5 million euros in revenue but more than 22 million euros in expenses, the PS has the largest deficit among the twelve parties with more than 1.5 million euros in revenue. The formation of Olivier Faure, however, has significant assets (more than 66 million euros) and has only a modest debt (8.2 million euros). It therefore presents a favorable net situation.
Conversely, the RN was slightly in surplus in 2020 (586,396 euros) but remains weighed down by a debt of nearly 24 million euros, much higher than its assets, valued at less than 9 million euros. The Republic on the move has the highest surplus result among the formations (7.7 million), while the PCF, with more than 66 million euros in assets, has a net situation of nearly 60 million euros.
In total, 571 formations having had for the year 2020 at least one agent responsible for collecting funds were required to file accounts certified by one or two auditors no later than June 30, 2021 for the 2020 financial year. Among them, 34 are eligible for public aid for the results of the 2017 legislative elections.
For this same 2020 financial year, 74 political parties required to file accounts with the Commission did not do so, i.e. 13%, but “a large majority of cases of non-filing relate to political parties dormant or inactive, having never carried out the formalities of dissolution or their publicity”notes the Commission.
