After having explored his adolescence in volume 5, the cartoonist will cover in this new graphic album of 170 pages the years 1994 to 2011, that is to say those of the young adult. Published by Allary Editions, The Arab of the future should be available in Quebec in January 2023.

The autobiographical series, which has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide, recounts the childhood and youth of the cartoonist, born to a Breton mother and a Syrian father. We thus dive into his eventful family life in Libya, Syria and Saudi Arabia, without forgetting his passages in France, on the side of his mother.

Translated into 22 languages, the albums of the series are still not available in its paternal language – in Arabic -, which should be done at the end of the publication of the 6e volume.

“I was approached by a few publishers who only wanted to commit to translating the first volume, explained the cartoonist to The Press two years ago. I didn’t want to run that risk. I want my cousins in Syria to be able to read the whole story and not just part of it. »
