The 50 savings measures proposed by négaWatt would save “several hundred euros per year” for households, according to Yves Marignac consultant on nuclear power and energy transition within the négaWatt association in order to avoid cuts this winter. “If it’s really cold this winter, we can achieve targeted power cuts”announced on franceinfo, on September 19, Emmanuelle Wargon, president of the Energy Regulation Commission.

With small simple gestures, it is possible to reduce our consumption of gas, electricity and oil by 13% in the short term, estimates négaWatt.

“In the context of the energy crisis, we have targeted sobriety measures that can be activated quickly”, explains Yves Marignac. Heat to 19 degrees. This drop of one degree saves 8%. You also have to be vigilant about household appliances: turn off the box, adjust the brightness of the TV, switch to LEDs for lighting. All this allows to reduce each time the consumption of the devices by about 3%. Reducing the luminous panels of pubs by a third would save the equivalent of production of 30 nuclear power stations and driving at 110 km/h would save 20% of fuel consumption.

“For each of the measures, we specified what, what reduction gesture, but also the who and the how, that is to say what organization is necessary, what actions of awareness, of provision are necessary.explains Yves Marignac. The government has an essential role to play in coordinating this and, through communication campaigns, getting this message into all homes and tertiary buildings.” The main proposals of négaWatt would save “several hundred euros per year”believes the consultant.
