The 3rd effective dose against Omicron, according to the INSPQ

The booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine increases protection against hospitalizations by 80% to 90%, according to a new study from the INSPQ. This protection concerns the Omicron variant.

The efficiency of the 3and dose is similar regardless of the vaccine. But Quebecers who received AstraZeneca first, then messenger RNA vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna) have less protection against a mild infection, not requiring a medical consultation (72% against 77% to 82% for the mRNA).

This efficacy is equally good for all age groups, and appears to be maintained with follow-up data up to 16 weeks. Quebecers who received only two doses also have stable protection for up to 32 weeks.
