On Monday, Canadian Minister of Public Safety Bill Blair announced the deployment of Canadian Armed Forces personnel to support Quebec’s vaccination campaign. The Department of National Defense clarified that the reconnaissance teams first carry out an assessment of the current situation in order to identify specific needs and that subsequently, the deployment of the appropriate number of soldiers to the locations targeted by the province will be carried out.
During the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, more than a thousand members of the Armed Forces had been deployed in the CHSLDs of the province, which had become deadly due to the spread of the virus and the lack of personnel, while many health care workers fell ill.
