A young man was arrested on Monday June 3, in a hotel near Roissy airport, after injuring himself with an explosive. Suspected of having planned violent action on French territory, this former Russian-Ukrainian soldier was placed in police custody.
What really happened on the afternoon of Monday June 3, behind the facade of a hotel at Roissy airport (Val-d’Oise)? When emergency services were called that day, a customer had just been burned to the hands and face in an explosion. He is then taken to hospital. In his hotel room, a big surprise awaits the investigators: “The first findings led to the discovery of products and materials intended for the manufacture of explosive devices”they explain.
An incendiary device will be discovered in the room, as well as small quantities of ammonium nitrate, sometimes used in the manufacture of homemade bombs, and a mobile phone capable of triggering a bomb remotely. The injured person then becomes a suspect. The man is 26 years old, he is of Russian and Ukrainian nationality. Originally from the Russian-speaking region of Donbass, he is said to have served in the regular Russian army. Individual or remote-controlled act? Impossible to know at this stage, but for certain specialists, the context of tensions with Russia must be taken into account.
