Two womena film by Isabelle Doval, co-produced and distributed by France Télévision, triumphed at the 24th edition of the Luchon Television Creation Festival, winning three prizes: “Pyrenean Excellence” for the best unitary fiction, the prize for directing and an interpretation prize.
Indeed, the two actresses Odile Vuillemin and Agathe Bonitzer, who embody the main characters of the film, were awarded a duo performance prize, tied with Julie de Bona and Julien Boisselier who play in Exposed. The film directed by Isabelle Doval tells the story of two women finding themselves at the heart of a murder case in the 1960s and having to face a misogynistic judiciary.
The short movie I would like to be erased signed Eric Piccoli also offers three awards, including that of the best short program and the best foreign French-speaking fiction. This Quebec series, which presents the daily life of teenagers in a difficult neighborhood of Montreal, also won the prize for best screenplay.
Face to face (France 3) leaves for its part with the prize for “Pyrenean excellence” for a series of 52 minutes, telling with humor the story of two sisters, one policewoman, the other an examining magistrate, who find out about their relationship late in life.
The prize for best documentary went to Hubble’s Odyssey: An Eye in the Stars (France 5), retracing the history of the space telescope whose discoveries have revolutionized science. Alfred and Lucie Dreyfus, I kiss you as I love you (France 5) was also acclaimed by winning the audience award for documentary and the originality of the subject. The documentary and fiction juries were respectively chaired by journalist and director Mireille Dumas and actress and director Coline Serreau.
The first two days of the festival gave pride of place to Spanish creations in order to “test the works with the French-speaking public”, according to the organizers. Series The casa de papel, which was a worldwide success when it was broadcast on Netflix, was rewarded in 2018 at Luchon. This year, Nasdrovia (Movistar+ and Mediapro) received the prize for best Spanish fiction while a special prize was awarded to Yrreal.
The festival ends this Sunday, February 13 with the screening of the award-winning creations.
